Brisbane, Queensland, Australia Vanguard Health Full time $90,000 - $120,000 per year

About Vanguard Health:

At Vanguard Health, our mission is simple: to enable local healthcare services to help all Australians achieve better health and a better life—wherever they live.

Since 2009, we've partnered with health services from Alice Springs to Rockhampton and Broome to Dubbo, delivering essential care to communities across the country. As a leading provider of healthcare workforce solutions, we identify, credential, and supply high-quality professionals—including doctors, nurses, and allied health workers—ensuring that local healthcare is accessible for all Australians.

Our deep roots in the medical specialist and nursing community give us unique insight into the logistical, financial, and clinical challenges facing today's health services. As an integrated public healthcare workforce partner, we work closely with government, private sector, and industry to recruit talent, solve complex service delivery challenges, and improve equity of access—especially in rural and remote areas.

We're now seeking a detail-oriented, systems-minded Finance Officer to help strengthen our financial operations and support our mission to deliver smarter, more sustainable healthcare across Australia.

Vanguard Health is an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply. We are committed to continuing to attract, recruit, and retain people from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage to Vanguard Health.

About the role:

As Finance Officer at Vanguard Health, you'll step into a broad, hands-on role that blends financial operations, systems thinking, and strategic support.

This is a generalist position—ideal for someone who thrives on variety, takes ownership, and brings sound judgment to both routine and complex financial matters.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll work closely with the Finance team across core functions including payroll, P&L review, cashflow, tax, and compliance.

You'll also contribute to process improvement, system upgrades, and cross-functional initiatives that strengthen financial clarity and operational alignment.

About you:

You're a capable, experienced finance professional who thrives in generalist roles—comfortable moving between cashflow management, payroll, compliance, reporting, and systems improvement with confidence and care.

You bring sound judgment, a proactive mindset, and a steady hand to both day-to-day operations and moments of change.

You've likely worked in health, community, or service-based sectors, and understand the importance of financial clarity in enabling frontline impact. You're familiar with Astute, Xero, JobAdder or similar platforms, and bring a working knowledge of payroll, tax, and compliance processes.

You know how to manage competing priorities, communicate clearly, and contribute meaningfully to a values-driven team.

You lead through data, process, systems, and experience—translating financial information into operational insight and helping others make better decisions.

Why Vanguard Health:

Vanguard Health is scaling with purpose—building systems, teams, and culture that enable real impact across communities.

In this Finance Officer role, you'll be part of that growth story, helping shape a finance function that's not just compliant, but enabling, strategic, and future-fit.

You'll work with autonomy and influence, supported by a collaborative team that values clarity, care, and continuous improvement.

Your experience will be respected, your ideas welcomed, and your development actively supported.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Financial Controller, and working closely with our Finance team, you will contribute to cashflow management, P&L review, tax and compliance processes including payroll processes.

This role is integral to maintaining financial integrity while enabling smarter decision-making, bridging the gap between data, systems, and people to support a high-performing, values-driven organization.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

Monthly and quarterly financial reports are delivered accurately and on time, with clear commentary and actionable insights.

P&L statements are reviewed and analysed to support performance tracking, cost control, and strategic decision-making.

Financial data is translated into meaningful dashboards and summaries for internal stakeholders.

Cashflow & Tax Management

Cashflow is monitored and forecasted to support operational needs and strategic planning.

Tax obligations are tracked and supported in collaboration with external accountants, ensuring compliance and timely lodgement.

Reconciliations and journals are completed with accuracy and consistency across accounts.

Systems & Process Improvement

Finance systems and processes are continuously reviewed and refined to improve efficiency, accuracy, and user experience.

Cross-functional collaboration supports smoother workflows between finance, operations, and business services.

Opportunities for automation and integration are identified and scoped in partnership with the Financial Controller.

Stakeholder Support & Collaboration

Internal teams receive timely, clear financial support and guidance to enable informed decisions and operational clarity.

Relationships with external accountants, services and clients are managed professionally to support compliance and reporting cycles.

Key competencies:

Qualifications & Technical Skills

Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; progress toward CPA or CA is highly regarded. Proficient in financial software (desirable: JobAdder, Astute, Xero), Excel, and reporting tools, with strong attention to detail and data integrity.

Financial Acumen

Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, P&L analysis, cashflow forecasting, and tax support.

Process & Systems Thinking

Ability to identify inefficiencies and contribute to process improvements across finance and operational functions.

Communication & Collaboration

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.

Initiative & Accountability

Proactive, reliable, and solutions-focused, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
