KTA is seeking an experienced Architect to join our collaborative team. We're looking for someone with demonstrated experience including multi-residential, mixed-use, cultural and civic projects, with expertise in adaptive reuse and heritage contexts. This role requires a candidate who can lead complex architectural projects whilst championing design quality through challenging delivery environments.
Project Role & Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Lead and direct projects through all phases of design, documentation and construction
- Apply expertise in adaptive reuse, heritage contexts and complex urban sites to inform design approaches
- Champion design quality in stakeholder meetings, coordinate preservation of key architectural elements, and develop solutions that maintain design intent while addressing builder requirements
- Manage project program and documentation aligned with construction methodology, maintaining clear communication of the design intents
- Coordinate with consultants to ensure integrated design solutions and implement robust quality control processes
- Develop strong working relationships with builder team and consultants
- Navigate authority approval processes with strengths in development applications and heritage approvals
- Employ sustainable design principles and practices, with a good knowledge of low-carbon construction strategies, material selections and ESD rating tools such as Green Star
Practice Contributions
- Share knowledge across the studio on complex design delivery and stakeholder management
- Contribute to practice knowledge and documentation frameworks
- Enhance cross-consultant collaboration through effective communication
- Identify opportunities for design innovation, particularly in mixed-use and adaptive reuse contexts
- Uphold KTA's vision and values while fostering positive stakeholder relationships
- Balance strategic project needs with immediate delivery requirements
- Promote collaborative problem-solving approaches within project team
- Attend industry events and share knowledge across the organisation
Qualifications & Experience
- Registered Architect ARBV or overseas equivalent
- Minimum 5 years post-registration experience in practice
- Strong background in multi-residential, cultural, civic and adaptive reuse projects
- Demonstrated experience working with heritage buildings and sensitive urban contexts
- Leadership presence and ability to build respect across stakeholders
- Strong organisational and prioritisation abilities
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts
- Proficiency with Aconex, Revit, Rhino and project documentation tools
