Data Engineering Consultant

Summary

Sestra People has been engaged exclusively to recruit two Data & Analytics Consultants for a growing consultancy based in Sydney CBD. These are permanent, full-time roles suited to consultants with around 2–5 years' local experience who are ready to take ownership of projects, work closely with clients, and further their career in cloud data engineering.

About the Roles

You'll join a tight-knit team of passionate Data, Cloud & AI professionals delivering end-to-end solutions – from building data pipelines and data warehousing to advanced analytics and AI/ML use cases. Expect to work across multiple projects, gain exposure to cutting-edge tools, and have a direct impact on clients' data strategies.

What You'll Bring

• Strong foundations in data modelling, warehousing and ETL concepts
• Strong analytics experience and ability to build BI Dashboards and Reports (Tableau, Power BI or Looker)
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing data pipelines
• Proficiency in Python and SQL (Spark experience advantageous)
• Commercial experience with Snowflake or Databricks
• Exposure to at least one public cloud platform (GCP preferred, AWS or Azure also considered)
• Confident client-facing communication skills (written and verbal English must be excellent).

Nice to Have

• GCP, Snowflake or Databricks certifications
• Experience with DevOps practices, streaming data solutions, or data security principles
• Consultancy experience or experience working with and/or managing stakeholders
• An Academic Background, such as a Masters Degree in Information Technology, Data Science etc

The Essentials

• Based in Sydney CBD (Martin Place) – minimum 3 days per week in office. If a client has a deadline or release that requires extra office presence, then the expectation is that you're flexible.
• Permanent, full-time opportunities (no sponsorship available)
• Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident – applications from candidates outside Sydney or without working rights will not be considered

• Competitive salary, well above the current market (Ranging from $100k to $140k + Super depending on experience) ideal profile has 2-4 years experience, at around the $120k + Super mark.
