Practice Manager – Digital Forensics

Reports to: Chief Digital Forensic Scientist

Department: Digital Forensics

Role Focus: Operational, Training, and Casework Support

About the Role

This is a hands-on operational support role embedded within a high-performing digital forensic environment. You will work closely with the Chief Digital Forensic Scientist to deliver forensic training programs, consultancy services, and casework support.

This role is not strategic or purely administrative—it requires practical, working knowledge of digital forensic tools, secure chain-of-custody practices, case logistics, and legal process frameworks. You must be comfortable operating in structured, high-stakes environments where confidentiality and precision are critical.

Key Responsibilities

1. Forensic Training Facilitation

  • Support the development and deployment of digital forensic training materials.
  • Coordinate logistics: travel, venue, equipment, software tools, and certification.
  • Ensure training labs are fully set up with current forensic software and test images.

2. Case & Evidence Support

  • Maintain case file documentation and chain-of-custody records.
  • Assist with evidence packaging, tracking, and producing client-ready reports.
  • Prepare documentation for consultancy engagements and project briefings.

3. Technical Operations

  • Assist in tool testing, simulations, and environment setup.
  • Maintain readiness of forensic kits and demo materials.
  • Stay up-to-date with compliance protocols (e.g., ISO 17025, law enforcement standards).

4. Stakeholder & Admin Interface

  • Liaise with legal, law enforcement, and client stakeholders.
  • Ensure operations adhere to legal and internal protocols.
  • Manage procurement, inventory, and logistical support for casework and training.

What You Bring

  • We're looking for someone with relevant operational experience in digital forensics. Ideal candidates will have:
  • Background in digital forensics, DFIR, or forensic support within law enforcement.
  • Familiarity with digital forensic tools and structured casework environments.
  • Experience with chain-of-custody workflows and evidence documentation.
  • A high level of discretion, attention to detail, and ability to manage tasks under pressure.
  • Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain NV1 security clearance.
