Founded in 2018 by students and industry professionals, the Australian Business Students' Association (ABSA) is the leading representative network for Australian business students. As an organisation, we collaborate with our members - which are the leading business student societies from universities across Australia - to facilitate a program of events throughout the calendar year which (a) enable university business students to connect with students from other universities across Australia, and (b) facilitate and develop critical skills ahead of joining the workforce.

We are currently seeking a volunteer Non Executive Director to join our Board of Directors to support the needs of ABSA from an overarching governance standpoint. We believe this is an important time for someone passionate about professional and student development to join our team as ABSA enters the next chapter of its strategic development.

Responsibilities

As a volunteer Non Executive Director, you will be required to:

  • Attend monthly Board meetings (remotely) where you and other industry professionals on the Board will discuss strategy and support student Executive Committee leaders
  • Contribute to the Board and its functions in terms of either finance, secretariat or human resources expertise
  • Support student leaders on an ad-hoc basis in a mentorship and industry liaison capacity
  • Attend ABSA events and engage with students throughout the calendar year

Qualifications

  • An industry professional ideally with a background in human resources, talent acquisition or working directly with graduates
  • Ideally someone with 5-10+ years of industry experience, located in Australia
  • University degree or tertiary qualifications in business/commerce or a related discipline
