Position Description

Road Safety Officer – Part-time

Council is seeking applications from self-motivated and suitably qualified persons to fill this important role within Council. The position is part-time – 35 hours per fortnight.

The primary purpose of the position is to:

  • Contribute to improved road safety outcomes in the Leeton Shire Local Government Area.
  • Raise the profile of road safety in the local community to influence behavioural change.
  • Prepare and implement a Local Road Safety Action Plan, focusing on projects that utilise the Safe Systems approach to road safety.

Qualifications and Experience

  • The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate that they have experience in consultation processes, particularly with community groups, including facilitation and public speaking.
  • They will also possess highly developed written and oral communication skills including report writing and the ability to represent Council with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Behavioural Sciences, Education, Health Promotion, Marketing, Communications and/or significant experience in a related discipline is a mandatory requirement together with a current Working with Children Check and White Card.

Salary and Conditions

  • A salary of between $43.62 to $48.85 per hour will be offered (depending on qualifications and experience) plus 12% superannuation.
  • Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award.
  • Prior to commencement, the successful applicant will be required to undergo a Functional Assessment which includes an alcohol and other drugs check.
  • They will also be required to undergo a Criminal History Check.
