Are you a proactive and tech-savvy individual with a passion for live events? Sunset Cinema is returning to the beautiful Bondi Beach this summer, and we're looking for an Audio Visual & Events Supervisor/Projectionist to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to be at the heart of Sunset Cinema's operations, ensuring a flawless cinematic experience for our guests from start to finish.

The Bondi Beach season runs from 13 November - 20 December 2025 and we screen Tuesday to Sunday nights, with shifts from 4:00PM to ~11:00PM each night, depending on the movie duration. There will also be Set-up and Training shifts 11-12 November.

What you'll be doing

As our on-site A/V expert, you'll be responsible for the technical production of each screening. Your duties will include:

  • Setting up and managing our inflatable cinema screen, projector, and sound system.
  • Ingesting movie hard drives and ensuring smooth playback.
  • Troubleshooting any technical issues that arise.
  • Supervising the setup and pack-down crew alongside the Venue Manager.
  • Assisting with other on-site operational tasks to ensure a successful event.

A large part of this role is simply ensuring the film runs smoothly.

What you'll bring:

  • Solid knowledge of audio-visual equipment and operations.
  • At least 2 years of experience in events, preferably outdoor.
  • Comfortable with heavy lifting and physical event production work.
  • The ability to get to and from Bondi Beach, even after late finishes (sometimes after 11:30 PM).
  • A commitment to be available for every screening night during the season, along with training and setup days.
  • Experience with digital cinema equipment is a plus, but not essential.

You will receive comprehensive training and support, but a core understanding of A/V is crucial. We are a small, collaborative team, and we expect all our staff to pitch in and help each other.
