About the Opportunity
We are seeking applications from candidates who are highly motivated to commence their learning in the Parks, Gardens and landscaping industry, whilst obtaining solid experience within local government.
By working within a supportive environment, you will gain experience in a broad range of areas including but not limited to landscape construction, horticulture, playground services and civil construction & maintenance.
Tasks you will complete include:
- Provide support to the landscape & recreation team to construct and maintain garden edges, retaining walls, paths and play spaces.
- Operating plant and equipment (for example chainsaws, power tools & machinery).
- Assist in the installation and repair of underground drainage systems, sprinklers, and reticulation systems to maintain optimum condition of Council's ovals, parks and gardens.
You will commence your studies in a Certificate III in Landscape Construction whilst developing knowledge, skills and abilities via on-the-job training.
About You
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
- Eligibility to complete Certificate III in Landscape Construction (please read role charter to make sure you are eligible before applying)
- Provisional or Class C Drivers Licence by the commencement of employment
- Interest and aptitude in landscape construction and commitment to four-year apprenticeship.
- Proven ability to work productively as a member of a team and contribute to team goals
- Hold a WHS General Construction Induction Card (White Card) or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
Benefits
This is a full time, temporary role (4-year contract) working a 38-hour week, with a salary range of $36,800.40 up to $49,280.40 per year + 12% super. Commencing salary is dependent on age and/or previous education.
Council also covers the cost of all training fees and gives apprentices access to staff benefits such as a monthly RDO and fitness passport.
