Legal Counsel – Employment & Labour

We're now looking for an experienced
Legal Counsel – Employment & Labour
to join our Legal team and partner closely with HR and business leaders to shape our employment practices across Australia.

Your Impact

As a trusted advisor, you'll provide expert legal counsel on all aspects of employment and labour law, from policy and compliance to complex employee relations, investigations, and union matters. You'll work across the full employee lifecycle, helping leaders navigate risk and drive positive associate outcomes.

You'll:

  • Partner with HR and business leaders to deliver a comprehensive associate relations strategy.
  • Provide clear, practical advice on performance, investigations, terminations, workplace safety, and employment standards.
  • Lead and manage external counsel relationships, ensuring efficient and effective support.
  • Represent TJX in dealings with external agencies and regulatory bodies, including the Fair Work Commission and Human Rights Commission.
  • Support enterprise bargaining and other industrial relations initiatives.
  • Build capability across the business through education and proactive risk management.

About You

You're an experienced employment lawyer (minimum 5 years PQE) with strong business acumen and a collaborative style. You have the confidence to influence at all levels, translating complex legal concepts into practical solutions. You thrive in a fast-paced, values-led environment and enjoy building relationships across HR and the wider business.

You'll also bring:

  • A current legal practising certificate (Australia)
  • Demonstrated experience in employment and labour law, ideally within a corporate or in-house environment
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability and sound judgement
