About the Role

Hervey Bay Diesel Service is on the hunt for a Heavy Diesel Mechanic with light vehicle experience (or willing to learn) to join our busy, growing team in sunny Hervey Bay, QLD. You'll be working across a mixed fleet – including school buses, Euro & Jap trucks, and light vehicles – so if you love variety, this one's for you.

This is a full-time role, paid weekly, with wages starting from $40/hr and negotiable depending on your experience and quality of work. Pay reviews are offered after your probation period and we offer monthly RDOs to help you strike that work/life balance.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Servicing and repairing school buses, trucks (light to heavy rigid), and light vehicles

  • Diagnosing mechanical faults using the latest tools and diagnostic equipment

  • Carrying out scheduled maintenance and safety inspections

  • Working independently and efficiently, while following workshop protocols

  • Jumping across jobs where needed – flexibility is key in a tight team

  • Assisting occasionally in the light vehicle bay, depending on workload

  • Keeping accurate job records and communicating with both customers and the team

What We're Looking For

  • Trade-qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic

  • Light vehicle experience preferred, or willingness to gain relevant training

  • Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills, especially across Euro & Japanese vehicles

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative

  • Strong communicator – whether talking to customers or teammates

  • Great attitude and work ethic – we want someone who brings good energy to the team

  • Manual driver's licence & HR Licence is required
