This is a part time vacancy available for hrs) per week.
Provide high-quality paediatric consultation to both impatient and ambulatory patients across the Top End of Australia.
Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospital is the principle tertiary hospital within the region and provides a broad range of referral services in all specialist areas to Darwin, the Top End of the Territory, Western Australia and South-East Asia.
Currently, the Royal Darwin Hospital is inviting applications for the role of Paediatric Surgical Consultant within the team of paediatric surgeons on a 12-month part-time placement.
As a
Paediatric Surgical Consultant
, you will provide specialist paediatric surgical services to include the care of both inpatient and ambulatory patients within the Royal Darwin Hospital, regional hospitals and remote communities and deliver outreach services to Katherine and Gove hospitals.
Your key duties will involve providing care and advice on the management of patients with surgical conditions to colleagues and conduct regular inpatient ward rounds and outpatient sessions, incorporating teaching and specialist opinion to referring medical practitioners. You will participate in the Department's 24-hr roster ensuring the proper functioning of the service. In addition, you will participate in continuous medial education, professional development, peer reviews, research, teaching and quality improvement activities, and provide supervision to junior medical and clinical staff.
To be successful you are required to be eligible for general or specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia, hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or equivalent, and have appropriate experience and training in paediatrics. Demonstrate research capability and a commitment to delivering high-quality care to patients and a passion for rural, regional and Aboriginal healthcare is essential.
