About the business

GEARS Mining is an Australian owned company providing specialist maintenance solutions and products to mine sites located across six continents.

Due to continuous business growth and a newly released product range, GEARS Mining requires a Field Service Technician for our enthusiastic team.

About the role

  • Complete mechanical, hydraulic and electrical preventative maintenance, diagnosis, trouble shooting and repairs on mine site process plant equipment
  • Perform breakdown repairs as required to ensure minimal downtime
  • Installation and testing of products as required
  • Participate in skills and product training
  • Maintain and complete all paperwork associated with the job
  • Mixture of domestic and international travel

Skills and experience

The successful applicant will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Australian Trade Qualification, either Diesel fitter, Fitter, Auto Electrician or Electrician
  • Excellent attitude and commitment to safety
  • Ability to obtain National Police clearance
  • Ability to pass a full pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening
  • Ability to obtain passport
  • Sound literacy skills and ability
  • Proficient in the Microsoft suite of products
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Outstanding work ethic
  • Ability to work away from home

The following will also be highly advantageous

  • Experience with closed loop hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with CAN Bus Systems
  • Experience with High Voltage electrical systems.
  • Experience with Rockbreakers
  • Experience with field work and working away from home
  • Experience with forklift or elevated work platform diagnosis and repair
  • Completed confined space entry
  • Completed Working at Heights
  • High Risk Forklift and Dogging ticket
  • Restricted Electrical Licence
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Software)
