Hastings Deering (Australia) LtdWe now have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Safety Trainer at Hastings Deering You will be responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive safety training programs aligned with Queensland's Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation and Hastings Deering's safety standards. You will play a critical role in ensuring all employees are equipped with the knowledge and skills to work safely around heavy machinery and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deliver, and continuously improve safety training programs tailored for heavy equipment operations, maintenance, and support functions.
- Ensure training content complies with Queensland WHS legislation, Hastings Deering safety policies, and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular courses across multiple sites intrastate.
- Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through testing and feedback.
- Collaborate with site managers and supervisors to identify specific training needs and safety risks.
- Maintain accurate training records and compliance documentation.
- Stay up to date with changes to WHS laws and regulations in Queensland and the heavy equipment sector.
You will bring:
- Proven experience as a Safety Trainer, preferably in heavy machinery, construction, mining, or a related heavy industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of Queensland's Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and related regulations.
- Relevant qualifications such as Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE or equivalent) is desirable but not essential (training will be provided).
- BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
- Currency to train/assess against RII units (or current equivalents), e.g.:
- RIIRIS301E Apply risk management processes
- RIIWHS202E Enter and work in confined spaces
- RIIWHS204E Work safely at heights
- ECO Chief/Fire Warden (Emergency Control Organisation)
- RIIHAN305D Gantry Crane
- RIIHAN203E Lifting Operations
- High Risk Work Licence (LF) and Forklift Assessor accreditation/eligibility (TLILIC0003/TLI)
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage a diverse workforce and adapt training delivery methods accordingly.
- Strong organisational and facilitation skills with attention to detail.
Tickets/licences (highly regarded):
- Dogging – HRWL class DG.
- Rigging – HRWL classes RB/RI/RA (basic/intermediate/advanced).
