Location: St Lawrence or Nebo

Isaac Regional Council is seeking a motivated and hands-on Apprentice Civil Construction Plant Operator to join our Infrastructure Services Department, based in St Lawrence or Nebo, commencing Monday 19 January

This is a full-time, fixed-term 3-year apprenticeship, offering the chance to earn while you learn, gain a Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations, and build a career in civil construction while working alongside experienced Operators and Team Leaders.

About the role

As an Apprentice Civil Construction Plant Operator in the Infrastructure Services Department, you'll support a variety of civil construction and maintenance projects across the region, including roads, drainage, pipelines, and recreation works. In this role, you will:

  • Conduct civil construction and maintenance work.
  • Operate plant and machinery such as front-end loaders, rollers, graders, and other specialised equipment.
  • Operate small plant, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Carry out concrete and excavation works.
  • Read and interpret plans and job specifications.

Role at a glance

Type: Fixed Term – 3-year Apprenticeship

Hours: Full-time, 76 hours per fortnight

Roster: Monday to Friday, 9-day fortnight

You don't need previous experience – just enthusiasm and a genuine interest in civil construction. You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Enjoy outdoor, physical work and are eager to learn.
  • Are committed to completing your Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations.
  • Possess satisfactory literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Can work safely, under supervision, and as part of a team.
  • Hold or are willing to obtain a Queensland Driver's Licence.
  • Hold or are willing to obtain a Construction White Card.
