General Manager Engineering

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and experienced General Manager of Engineering that can take charge of our engineering operations across five manufacturing sites. Reporting to the Managing Director you will be responsible for overseeing all engineering functions across our national network of facilities. You will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategies that enhance operational performance, optimise production processes, and ensure the highest standards of food safety and quality.

This position requires exceptional leadership skills, a strong understanding of meat manufacturing technologies, and the ability to manage cross-site operations effectively. You will collaborate closely with senior management and various departments to align engineering initiatives with company goals, while also ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Your leadership will be vital in fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and teamwork across all sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement engineering strategies that align with our company objectives and support the sites.
• Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of engineering projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency, food safety, and product quality.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards related to meat processing and safety.
• Serve as the primary liaison for engineering-related matters with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies.
• Manage the engineering budget and ensure efficient allocation of resources across all sites.

Key Objectives:

• Lead a large-scale consolidation project to create a supersite that enhances operational efficiency, reduces costs, and improves production capabilities across the company.
• Drive initiatives aimed at maximising production output while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards in meat processing.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging the adoption of Lean Manufacturing principles and best practices across all sites.
• Strengthen cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment between engineering, production, quality, and supply chain operations.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Degree in Engineering or a related field
• 5 + years of experience in engineering management within the meat manufacturing industry, with a proven track record of overseeing multiple sites and large-scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of meat processing technologies, engineering principles, and quality standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate teams across different locations.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
• Willingness to travel to various sites as needed.
