Street Connect is a low barrier, outreach and case management service for young people aged 15 – 25 years who experiencing homeless or at risk of homelessness. We provide connection, support and referral to young people inner City via the Street Connect bus, and intensive case management and crisis intervention across the metro area.
We are looking for our next Youth Worker who loves working within a team and providing exceptional case management to young people with diverse backgrounds and experiences. You will engage in weekly assertive outreach within the CBD and advocate at relevant networks and communities.
This is a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position based in Leederville, WA.
What you will bring
You will use your skills, understanding, and experience in providing a person-centred, strength-based approach in working alongside a diverse group of young people experiencing a unique set of circumstances and complexities. To be successful in this role, you will have:
• Tertiary or Diploma level qualification in relevant Youth Work or Human Services discipline, combined with significant skills and experience in youth work and / or people experiencing homelessness.
• Ability to engage and build strong, professional working relationships with young people with complex and co-occurring needs
• Case management experience, safety planning, assessment and crisis intervention skills.
• Experience providing an outreach service to street present young people
• Up to date knowledge of resources and services within youth and homelessness sector.
• Understanding of the current barriers and difficulties facing young people who are at risk of homelessness or homeless.
• Commitment to working in a positive team environment.
Your role will be a unique combination of outreach on the Street Connect Bus and case management across the metro area, with our office based in Leederville. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity. Outreach shifts are currently on Monday and Friday to 6 pm with 7.5 hour days typical. Typical hours can be negotiable for the right candidate.
You must possess a current National Police Clearance valid within one year, a WA Working with Children Check, a Senior First Aid certificate, WA Drivers Licence with a willingness to obtain an MR bus licence.
