The Role
In this 12-month contract role you will drive the creation of a robust framework to ensure NGS Super meets AASB S2 requirements. You will embed climate-related risk and opportunity disclosures into financial reporting, while building internal capability for ongoing compliance. This is an opportunity to make a real impact by shaping sustainable practices and transparency across the business.
What you'll do
- Lead the end-to-end development and implementation of a framework and financial reporting to ensure compliance with AASB S2.
- Interpret AASB2 requirements, assess impacts and monitoring regulatory developments.
- Develop and manage a detailed project plan, including timelines, milestones, and resource requirements; as well as preparation of steering Committee and Board reporting.
- Support the identification of data gaps and lead/coordinate efforts to source, validate, and manage climate-related data.
- Oversee the development and collection, analysis, and drafting financial report disclosure of climate-related information in accordance with AASB S2, which focuses on climate-related risks and opportunities.
- Act as the primary audit contact for climate-related disclosures; ensuring workpapers are developed for external audit assurance.
- Lead project working group to integrate climate reporting into business processes.
- Engage with senior leadership and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and oversight.
- Support the development of scenario analysis and stress testing to quantify financial impacts.
- Align climate risk assessments with Risk Management Frameworks.
- Support the definition and implement metrics and targets required under AASB S2.
About you
A strategic thinking and outcome focused professional, you will bring the following key skills:
- 7+ years' experience in either ESG, risk, audit, financial reporting, or sustainability roles.
- Experience leading regulatory or accounting standard change programs within financial services or asset management, ideally with project management experience.
- Understanding of accounting standards and principles.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with climate risk scenario analysis, materiality assessments, and assurance processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into actionable plans.
- Tertiary qualifications in finance, sustainability, risk management, accounting, or a related discipline.
The following are nice to have but not essential:
- Experience with data governance, reporting systems, and environmental and climate reporting metrics.
- CA or CPA qualified
- Strong working knowledge of climate-related disclosure frameworks (e.g., TCFD, ISSB, AASB S2).
