Fixed-term contract | Lennox Head, NSW (plus travel) | Competitive remuneration
Lead a once-in-a-generation campaign to shape the future of Australian wildlife care.
Wildlife Recovery Australia (WRA) is seeking a highly organised and proactive Project Manager to lead our 14-week National and International Campaign, including a 6-week multi-state tour featuring Matilda, Australia's only mobile wildlife hospital.
The campaign will unite government, corporate, and community partners to drive legislative change and national collaboration for wildlife rescue, treatment, and rehabilitation — creating a lasting framework for the future of Australia's wildlife.
About Wildlife Recovery Australia
Wildlife Recovery Australia operates specialist hospitals and sanctuaries that deliver world-class care for sick, injured, and orphaned native animals.
Our facilities include the Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital HQ in Lennox Head, the Byron Bay Raptor Recovery Centre in Ewingsdale, and Matilda, our 22-wheel mobile wildlife hospital powered by UD Trucks.
In less than five years, we've treated more than 10,000 wildlife patients, returning nearly 40% to care or release.
Our mission is clear: to conserve, protect, and ensure positive welfare outcomes for Australian wildlife through treatment, rehabilitation, research, and education.
The Role
Reporting to the CEO, the Project Manager will coordinate every aspect of the WRA National Tour & Campaign — from planning and logistics through to stakeholder engagement, sponsorship management, and media activation.
You will work with a passionate and dedicated team to:
- Lead national tour planning, scheduling, and delivery across multiple states and territories
- Manage logistics for Matilda and associated events and partnerships
- Coordinate media and public relations to maximise campaign visibility
- Build relationships with government, corporate, philanthropic, and community stakeholders
- Oversee budgets, reporting, and campaign documentation
- Support fundraising initiatives to achieve $250,000+ in sponsorship targets
- Champion WRA's values and commitment to ethical wildlife care
About You
You are an experienced project manager who thrives in dynamic environments and can balance strategy with hands-on delivery.
You bring:
- Proven success managing complex, multi-location or touring projects
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Confidence in managing sponsors, media, and event partners
- A passion for wildlife conservation and positive welfare outcomes
- The ability to problem-solve, adapt, and deliver under pressure
Experience in fundraising, government relations, or conservation initiatives will be highly regarded.
Contract & Remuneration
- Fixed-term contract until April 2026
- Approximately 15–20 hours per week until the end of 2025, increasing from mid-January
- Competitive remuneration, commensurate with experience
- Based at Lennox Head, NSW, with travel during the regional tour - approximately 6 weeks away
How to Apply
To apply, please submit your CV and a brief cover letter to the CEO, Stephen Van Mil, outlining your experience and motivation for this role by clicking Apply Now.
Applications will be reviewed as received — early applications are encouraged.
