Sydney, New South Wales, Australia KPMG Australia Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

Company Description
We reduce complexity and cost by delivering enterprise-grade data and AI platforms and solutions with minimal overhead – enabling smarter operations and insights without the cost and burden of fragmented systems.

We help organisations understand, govern and protect their data through transparency on where it lives, how it's used. We help them manage privacy, security and regulatory obligations – through tools that improve visibility on data assets, track lineage, enable data classification, policy enforcement and responsible data sharing.

Job Description
As a Manager you will lead the delivery of complex data platform solutions, ensuring alignment with client objectives, technical standards, and governance frameworks. You will oversee project teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to solution architecture and strategic planning. Your role will involve engaging with stakeholders to shape data strategies, manage delivery risks, and ensure high-quality outcomes across engagements.

You will also play a key role in business development by contributing to proposals, and supporting pre-sales activities. As a leader in the team, you will foster a collaborative and inclusive culture, champion continuous improvement, and drive innovation in data engineering practices.

How are you extraordinary?

  • You have attention to detail and focus on high-quality output
  • You are experienced and comfortable with dealing with ambiguity
  • You have demonstratable experience in solving complex problems

Your Experience
At KPMG, we believe that diversity of thought, background and experience strengthens relationships and delivers meaningful benefits to our people, our clients, and communities. To be considered for this opportunity, your qualifications, skills & experience should include

  • Experience implementing data platforms on the Microsoft cloud stack (Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Power BI, etc.).
  • Knowledge of data engineering practices, including ELT/ETL, data pipelines, and orchestration tools.
  • Understanding of data modelling, data governance, and data security best practices.
  • Familiarity working in a systems integrator or professional services environment.
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages like SQL, Python, and Spark.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate) are desirable.
