About the role

As the Duty Manager at Mercure Townsville, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of this dynamic hotel. Reporting to the Hotel Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the hotel, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining the highest standards of quality. This is a full-time or part time position for the right candidate based in Townsville, Queensland.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing leadership and direction to the front office and housekeeping teams to ensure all guest needs are met efficiently and effectively
  • Overseeing the check-in and check-out process, ensuring a seamless experience for all guests
  • Monitoring and managing hotel inventory, including room availability, guest reservations, and revenue
  • Resolving guest queries and complaints in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensuring the hotel's facilities and public areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation
  • Coordinating with the food and beverage team to ensure a consistent and enjoyable dining experience for guests
  • Actively participating in the hotel's continuous improvement initiatives and contributing to the development of operational policies and procedures

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar Duty Manager or Assistant Hotel Manager role within the hospitality industry
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Excellent customer service orientation and the ability to handle guest queries and complaints effectively
  • Proficient in using hotel management software and technology, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Thorough understanding of hotel operations, including front office, housekeeping, and food and beverage
  • A passion for the hospitality industry and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Hospitality Management or a related field would be highly regarded
