About You:

  • You are a highly experienced real estate lawyer
  • You have the ability to lead a small team of specialist real estate lawyers supporting Australian retail and commercial asset portfolios
  • You have the ability to act as the primary legal contact in relation to day-to-day asset operations and strategic projects
  • You are experienced in providing timely, commercial legal advice on complex real estate matters including leasing, development, construction, property management and other asset-related issues
  • You are experienced in managing and resolving legal issues, including engagement with tenants, contractors and other external stakeholders
  • You have the ability to assess legal risks in the context of the client's risk appetite and advising on appropriate mitigation, management or escalation strategies
  • You have the ability to oversee allocation and supervision of work (including triaging matters, prioritising resources and managing workflow)
  • You have the ability to manage the effective use of external counsel to ensure that legal services are delivered in a cost-effective and coordinated way
  • You have the ability to build and manage strong working relationships with senior executives and other key internal stakeholders
  • You have the ability to recommend improvements to team operating models including reviewing team structure, resourcing and capability mix (including seniority and specialisation), allocation of work between in-house and external counsel, key processes and ways of working with the business and opportunities to improve efficiency
  • You have the ability to hit the ground running and work closely with a fast paced team
  • You have the ability to work autonomously and prioritise
  • You have a minimum of 6 years' experience
  • You have the ability to understand and adapt to the needs of the business
  • You have a current practising certificate
  • You have the right to live and work in Australia
