Key Responsibilities

Platform & Infrastructure Management

  • Design, build, and maintain Dockerized environments for edge and cloud systems.
  • Manage and deploy containers using Balena Cloud/OSS, including fleet configuration and updates.
  • Implement Git-based configuration management and CI/CD pipelines for reliable system delivery.
  • Maintain Node-RED, InfluxDB, and other backend services within containerized setups.

System Administration & Operations

  • Administer and harden Linux systems (Yocto and RHEL preferred).
  • Monitor and troubleshoot containers, networking, and hardware integrations.

  • Implement automated backups, logging, and system health monitoring for the Stack.

  • Develop and implement containerized deployment workflows suitable for air-gapped environments, including secure scanning integration and offline provisioning.

  • Script common operational tasks in Bash, Python or Golang.

Monitoring & Observability

  • Integrate telemetry from multiple systems into Grafana dashboards (basic setup only).
  • Manage metrics and alerting for proactive system health visibility.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting ability.
  • Proven experience with Docker, Docker Compose, and image lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with Balena Cloud or similar edge deployment frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Git, CI/CD workflows, and DevOps automation.

  • Scripting in Python and Bash.

  • Full stack developer skills (React/Node/Python)

Bonus Skills

  • Knowledge of Grafana, Prometheus, or Telegraf for monitoring and metrics.
  • Experience managing IoT device fleets or distributed edge infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with MQTT, REST APIs, and network configuration.
  • Experience with Node-RED and InfluxDB setup and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Golang for backend service components.
  • Have previous experience working for Rio Tinto and its IT processes
  • Experience working with JFrog Artifactory
