1. Role Purpose
The Foreman – Structural Formwork is responsible for leading our direct-hire team delivering the complete Formwork, reinforcement and concrete placement (FRP) scope for both:
Soffit / Deck Formwork (horizontal structures)and
Vertical Structural Elements (walls, columns, cores, shafts, stairs)This project includes a Lubeca jumpform system, and the Foreman will coordinate jump cycles, supervise safe operation, and work hands-on within the core and across the slab decks.
This is a tools-on leadership role—the Foreman plans, sequences and supervises the work while actively contributing labour where required to maintain production and quality.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Lubeca Jumpform Responsibilities
- Oversee setup, operation and cycle progression of the Lubeca jumpform.
- Lead daily jumpform safety inspections, platform and screen checks, and access/egress controls.
- Coordinate shutter movements, core preparation, formwork adjustments and platform resets.
- Ensure all mechanical/hydraulic systems are functional prior to each jump.
- Work closely with the Lubeca provider (if on site) for inspections, audits and technical sign-off.
- Plan and manage crane operations for shutters, rebar, embeds and equipment around the core.
- Maintain a clean, safe and efficient core working environment.
B. Soffit / Deck Formwork Scope
- Lead installation, stripping and preparation of slab and beam Formwork.
- Coordinate conventional systems, modular soffit systems, propping layouts and edge forms.
- Ensure deck prep meets sequence requirements: penetrations, rebates, safety controls, PT ducts (where applicable) and cast-in items.
- Review slab set-out drawings, backpropping requirements and temporary works details.
- Participate in deck works when required to maintain cycle targets.
- Manage re-use, cleaning and repair of soffit Formwork components.
C. Vertical FRP (Form–Reo–Pour) Scope
- Lead the full FRP process for vertical elements including cores, walls, lift shafts, columns and stairwells.
- Coordinate reinforcement installation, spacing, fit-up and inspections.
- Oversee Formwork installation, ties, bracing, panels, shutters and alignment.
- Supervise concrete placement, vibration, compaction and curing requirements.
- Conduct verticality checks, alignment checks and internal cleaning prior to pour.
- Complete QA documentation including pre-pour checks, embed confirmation, bolt/ferrule verification, and pour sign-off.
D. Hands-On Work (Tools-On Leadership)
- Actively perform Formwork installation, stripping, fixing and adjustments across soffits and verticals.
- Assist with reinforcement placement and core preparation.
- Participate in concrete pours, vibration and finishing as required.
- Step onto a work front when bottlenecks threaten production or quality.
- Demonstrate leadership by setting high standards of workmanship and behaviour.
E. Planning & Coordination
- Plan daily and weekly activities including labour allocation, crane usage, materials and sequencing.
- Interpret and communicate formwork drawings, PT layouts, structural plans and jumpform sequencing.
- Ensure all materials, consumables and equipment are available when required.
- Coordinate with crane crews to optimise hook time and eliminate downtime.
- Drive efficient cycle times for both slab decks and verticals.
F. Safety Management
- Enforce all WHS legislation, SWMS and site-specific safety procedures.
- Lead toolbox talks, daily pre-starts and targeted risk discussions.
- Ensure fall protection, penetration covers, formwork bracing and temporary works are compliant.
- Assess hazards within the core and deck areas, especially around high-risk jumpform activities.
- Participate in incident reporting, investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
G. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure all Formwork complies with AS3610, project specifications and engineering details.
- Conduct inspections for reinforcement, cover, spacing and cast-in elements.
- Ensure concrete placement meets compaction, curing and finish quality standards.
- Monitor tolerances across soffits, walls, columns and core elements.
- Complete QA documentation and maintain accurate site records.
H. Stakeholder & Builder Coordination
- Liaise with the builder's site team regarding program, access, crane time, pump scheduling and handovers.
- Coordinate with other trades working adjacent to decks and verticals.
- Attend progress meetings and contribute to short-term planning.
- Maintain a professional, steady relationship with all stakeholders.
3. Skills & Experience
Mandatory
- 5+ years Formwork experience across both slab/deck (soffit) and vertical structures.
- Experience supervising FRP crews on commercial or high-rise projects.
- Strong competence in operating or working within jumpform systems (Lubeca preferred).
- Proven experience working on the tools while supervising.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, sequencing plans, set-outs and temporary works details.
- Strong WHS knowledge and practical understanding of high-risk construction work.
- Previous Lubeca jumpform experience.
- Dogman/Rigging licence.
- Confined space entry ticket (for core environments).
- Experience with Procore, Aconex, Cloudcon or Ascora.
- PT slab experience.
