About the Role

The Manager, Environment and Release provides leadership and operational oversight across environment and release management processes, tools and planning to support the delivery of business objectives. The role ensures the integrity, availability and provisioning of all technology environments, and enables timely and controlled releases across teams and projects, balancing the delivery of releases with the stability of critical services for the organisation. It plays an essential role in managing the preparation, configuration and financial sustainability of environments for the Commission, in particular for time-critical election event.

The role is Ongoing Full-time position.

Key knowledge, experience and essential requirements

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • Extensive experience in environment and release management, including managing releases for multiple applications, maintaining enterprise-wide release calendars and environment management plans, coordinating across multiple technology and business teams, and governing the path to production.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing technical staff, sharing best practice and knowledge and fostering a high-performing team culture.
  • Proven experience with Azure DevOps, Azure AD, GitHub or similar code repositories and associated automated build and release pipelines, including strong knowledge of modern CI/CD principles and tools.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and ITIL frameworks and processes, particularly in relation to release management.
  • Financial acumen – ensuring costs associated with multiple environments are managed well to maximise value.
  • Strong risk management capability – understanding of technical and business risks, how they are effectively managed, documented and reduced.
  • Politically neutral with no affiliation to political parties or lobbyists/campaigners.
  • Satisfactory criminal record check result.
