About The Job
The Policy Analyst is responsible for researching and developing policy advice on key issues associated with youth mental health and the need for early intervention. This includes understanding the policy context, analysing written and numeric evidence, and working with internal and external stakeholders, including young people, to identify the available evidence-base.

Reporting To The Senior Manager, Policy You Will

  • Identify policy issues, service and sector contexts and relevant evidence and manage an adaptive and iterative research approach.
  • Research, analyse and prepare clear written materials including reports, briefings, papers Support broader content creation to communicate policy outputs (including graphics and other multimedia) and present on policy projects within the organisation, to department stakeholders and other agencies and relevant groups.
  • Identify policy issue experts and key stakeholders (internal and external) and assist with developing a project relevant approach to engage with young people.
  • Support the work of the Orygen Institute, Policy team and organisation projects and events as required.

Skills and experience
The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:

  • Tertiary qualification(s) in Political Sciences, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Understand how government policies are informed, developed and enacted.
  • Capacity to identify and comprehend evidence and data relevant to a policy issue.
  • Demonstrated experience with liaising with internal and external stakeholders and experts.
  • Capacity to write well in a range of formats, such as reports, briefs, submissions and correspondence.
