The Operations Manager at Geelong Marble House (GMH) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily operations, including job scheduling, staff management, client and trade communication, and hands-on support with templating, installations, and workshop activities.

Reporting directly to the business owners, the Manager will have the autonomy to make operational decisions that align with the best interests of GMH.

Key Responsibilities

Templating & Measuring

  • Attend job sites to complete accurate measurements and stone templates.

Scheduling & Workflow

  • Organise daily and weekly job schedules.

  • Allocate staff effectively and monitor job progress.

Client & Trade Liaison

  • Communicate with clients, cabinetmakers, and builders to ensure seamless project delivery.

Workshop & Site Support

  • Provide hands-on support in the workshop or on-site, including lifting and installations when necessary.

Consumables & Inventory Management

  • Monitor and manage stock levels and consumables.

  • Organise purchases or collections as required.

Team Supervision

  • Lead and support team members.

  • Uphold safety standards and foster a positive team environment.

Operational Decision-Making

  • Make independent day-to-day decisions that support the business's goals.

Reporting & Communication

  • Participate in monthly review meetings with directors to discuss performance, challenges, and priorities.

  • Owners remain available for urgent support or decisions beyond regular authority.

Skills & Attributes Required

  • Relevant trade or construction background (stonework, carpentry, cabinetry, shopfitting, etc.)

  • Strong organisational and scheduling abilities

  • Proven team leadership and communication skills

  • Physically fit and prepared to assist hands-on when needed

  • Proactive, solution-focused, and reliable

  • Driver's licence (essential); Forklift licence (preferred)
