Your New Role

As Manager - Group Tax, you'll play a pivotal role in leading tax advisory, compliance, and strategy for Aware Super. You'll manage technical tax matters, foster a high-performing team, and ensure the Fund's tax obligations are met efficiently and accurately. This is a leadership role for someone who thrives on technical complexity, stakeholder engagement, and driving continuous improvement to maximise member outcomes.

  • Lead the delivery of tax advice, compliance, and reporting across the Group, ensuring adherence to legislation and Aware Super's tax governance framework.
  • Manage tax compliance obligations, including income tax, GST, FBT, and tax provision preparation for financial reporting and unit pricing.
  • Contribute to tax strategy, policy development, and engagement with regulators, identifying opportunities to optimise tax processes and reduce operational risk.
  • Oversee distribution reviews for managed investment schemes and provide technical guidance on member-related tax matters.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, tax advisors, and custodians.

How do you exceed our expectations?

  • The idea of being part of our growth is exciting and you want to play a pivotal role in making super simple.
  • At least 8 years' experience in tax advisory and compliance, ideally within superannuation, funds management, banking, or professional services.
  • Holds tertiary qualifications in commerce or law; postgraduate qualifications in taxation or accounting highly regarded.
  • Extensive knowledge of Australian tax laws, superannuation funds, income tax, GST, and tax in unit pricing.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience coaching and developing team members and managing complex deliverables.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a commitment to continuous improvement, integrity, and delivering member-focused outcomes.
  • You are balanced in accepting risk in any decision you face. You are curious to understand risk context and choose to speak up as we simplify, learn and grow.
