Reporting to the Head of Tax within the Finance team, you'll work in a collaborative environment where your expertise will help shape tax processes, provide technical guidance, and partner with stakeholders across the business. This is a broad, hands-on role offering exposure to all aspects of tax compliance, ad-hoc advisory, and business partnering, with the opportunity to make a real impact as the business evolves
Why you'll love working here
We're a welcoming bunch who put our energy into being the best company we can be. For us, this means shared respect, great communication between teams, acting on our ideas, and looking out for each other's wellbeing. There are plenty of great perks, from flexible working to a long list of exclusive Alinta benefits.
What you'll do
- Oversee and deliver accurate, timely tax compliance for the Group
- Prepare half-year and year-end tax effect accounting calculations and tax note disclosures for the Group
- Prepare and coordinate tax returns, BAS, PAYG, FBT, and related statutory filings, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and deadlines
- Provide technical tax advice and support to finance staff and business stakeholders
- Assist and support with the management of tax fixed asset registers
- Monitor changes in tax legislation, assess business impacts, and contribute to continuous improvement of tax processes and systems including maintaining relevant policies and procedures
- Build strong relationships across the business and with external advisors, supporting audit activities and fostering a culture of compliance and innovation
Your experience
- Tertiary qualification in accounting or commerce, with CPA or CA accreditation
- Minimum 5 years' professional experience in tax compliance, tax effect accounting, and/or tax advisory, ideally with some in-house exposure
- Strong technical knowledge of Australian tax legislation and regulatory environment
- Excellent stakeholder management, written and verbal communication skills, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach
- Experience with tax software (ideally CCH Integrator) and a continuous improvement mindset; energy sector experience is a plus but not essential
Please note this role requires full working rights within Australia.
