About Us

The Boatshed is a vibrant, well-loved restaurant overlooking the stunning Lake Wendouree. We pride ourselves on delivering memorable dining experiences for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, paired with excellent coffee, cocktails, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Shift Manager to join our leadership team and help us deliver consistently high standards of service.


The Role

As a Shift Manager, you will play a hands on role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations during your shift. You will lead, support, and motivate the front-of-house team, work closely with the kitchen, and ensure our guests enjoy the outstanding experience The Boatshed is known for.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee restaurant operations during rostered shifts.
  • Lead, support, and motivate the FOH team to deliver professional and friendly service.
  • Act as the first point of contact for staff and guests during service.
  • Manage bookings, table allocations, and floor service flow.
  • Monitor service quality and resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, RSA, and workplace health & safety standards.
  • Manage cash handling, end-of-day reporting, and shift handovers.
  • Assist with training and onboarding of new team members.

About You

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or shift management role in hospitality (restaurant/café/bar).
  • A hands-on leader with strong communication and people skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for delivering excellent customer experiences.
  • Current RSA certificate (essential).
  • Barista and/or cocktail knowledge highly regarded.
