GREENPEACE AUSTRALIA PACIFIC
Be bold. Be creative. Be part of the fight for a green and peaceful future.
Greenpeace is an independent campaigning organisation, using peaceful, creative action to protect the planet and promote justice for all communities. We work in solidarity with Pacific Island Nations to take urgent climate action and hold decision-makers accountable.
We are looking for a Campaigner with the strategic smarts, creative spark and relentless drive to help win campaigns that make real-world change.
This is a full time, 2 year fixed term contract.
Open to candidates Australia wide.
THE TEAM
The Campaign Team is responsible for fighting for strong climate action and nature protection. Whether it's preventing huge new gas mines, taking the fight of the Pacific to the world's biggest stages, or advocating for solutions to replace harmful forms of economic activity, you'll be working on campaigns we believe will make the world safer and more just.
Our Campaigning Team is divided up into 3 core streams. These include Climate and Energy, Nature, and Pacific. This role sits within the Pacific climate stream of work with the purpose of collaborating on the development, implementation and evaluation of strategies to deliver climate action for Pacific Island Nations.
THE ROLE
As a Campaigner at Greenpeace, you'll be at the heart of designing and delivering bold, effective campaigns, online and offline, that inspire people, mobilise communities, and pressure those in power to act at the urgency the climate crisis demands.
Some of the core responsibilities of the role will include:
- Develop and lead innovative campaigns that tackle the biggest environmental challenges facing our region;
- Create powerful narratives and content that cut through in media and online spaces;
- Work alongside allies, partner organisations, and frontline communities in the Pacific to achieve climate justice;
- Engage and grow our supporter base through strategic communications, social media, grassroots mobilising, and creative actions;
- Represent Greenpeace to decision-makers, policymakers and the media; and
- Spot and seize campaign opportunities in a rapidly shifting political and social landscape.
This is a diverse and fast-paced role, one day you might be planning bold creative actions, the next you could be pitching a story to the media, analysing campaign data, or briefing supporters on a critical issue.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
You're someone who:
- Has at least 3 years' experience in campaigning, organising, advocacy, or similar roles;
- Knows how to build winning strategies that influence decision-makers;
- Understands political, policy and power landscapes, especially in the Pacific context;
- Can write, speak and present with clarity and impact across different audiences;
- Is skilled with digital campaigning tools, social media and online community-building;
- Thrives on collaboration and can forge strong partnerships with allies and stakeholders; and
- Is comfortable balancing strategy work with hands-on execution, from planning to reporting.
Experience in climate or environmental issues is highly valued, but passion, adaptability and proven campaigning ability count most.
We recognise that sometimes the right person for a job is based on personal qualities and not just qualifications. If you are not sure whether you are qualified, we would strongly encourage you to make an inquiry or go ahead and apply.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- A role with one of the most well-known brands in the environmental and NGO space, and the strength of the 50 years of Greenpeace behind you;
- A great work-life balance including 35 hour work week, integrity framework and generous leave conditions (including an additional week of paid leave between Christmas and New Years);
- Genuine flexible working conditions including remote work or hybrid working arrangements;
- An incredible combined head office and warehouse space in Rosebery, Sydney. Plus, co-working spaces in Melbourne and Perth;
- A workplace culture that values inclusivity, belonging and diversity; and
- An annual health allowance
Annual full-time salary: $97,942.75 per annum + 12% superannuation.
HOW TO APPLY
