The role is based at the Townsville Bulk Sugar Terminal in the Port of Townsville precinct. Each year the terminal receives and ships over 1 million tonnes of raw sugar and 250 thousand tonnes of molasses.
About the role:
The QSL Operations division provides reliable storage, shipping, and logistics management services to the Queensland sugar industry at six bulk sugar sites across Queensland.
We're looking to hire a suitably skilled & experienced Operators to join our team in Townsville on a six month fixed term contract.
The role of Operator at QSL involves general building and equipment maintenance of bulk material handling facilities including conveyors, hoppers, hydraulic systems, and mobile equipment. The role also includes warehousing and stores management, plant operations (fixed & mobile), as well as water blasting and cleaning. You will bring with you the capability and experience in materials handling plant with heavy equipment such as front-end loaders and excavators.
Another key responsibility is the receiving of raw product into the facilities using a computer based, automated materials handling system and control panel. Your previous experience using similar systems and programs will be viewed favourably.
In addition to the above responsibilities, the role of Operator also involves the loading of shipping vessels.
To fulfil the role of Operator your hours of work will require you to be available to work both continuous and non-continuous shift work. This includes being available to work on public holidays and on weekends as required.
About you: The emphasis will be on your alignment to QSL's Core Values where you will be able to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team environment, be self-motivated, goal focused and possess good communication skills and a commitment to safe work practices.
You will be computer literate and have a positive attitude and your ability to work unsupervised will be critical to success in this role.
Experience working in a bulk materials handling facility would be advantageous and experience operating mobile equipment such as front-end loaders, and excavators is desirable as well as nay high risk tickets.
