Position: Senior Network Engineer
Location: Melbourne Australia
The role:
You will take the lead in building and scaling our network infrastructure from core design to hands-on implementation to support ResetData's high performance GPU cloud and AI data centre workloads. You'll specialise in Cisco technologies while playing a cross-functional role in designing secure, reliable, and scalable networks in hybrid cloud environments.
You will work closely with our cloud and product engineering teams to ensure seamless connectivity and optimal performance of mission critical systems. This is a hands-on, senior role with room to help shape the backbone of a next-gen infrastructure company.
What you'll do:
- Design, configure, and manage enterprise network infrastructure using Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Contributing to the design and implementation of secure networks.
- Contributing to the development of policies/procedures/protocols for working in a secure environment.
- Support the development of high-performance data centre and edge networking architectures for GPUaaS platforms.
- Build and maintain Layer 2 and Layer 3 topologies, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and VLAN configurations.
- Implement and manage secure remote access (VPN), network segmentation, and access control policies.
- Collaborate with cloud and systems teams to optimise network traffic flows for containerised (Kubernetes-based) environments.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network performance, proactively resolving latency, packet loss, and configuration issues.
- Maintain detailed network documentation, diagrams, and change management records.
- Lead network-related incident response and root cause analysis.
- Contribute to infrastructure-as-code efforts where applicable for networking automation and repeatability.
- Stay up to date with evolving Cisco technologies, security best practices, and open networking solutions
What you'll bring:
- NV1 Clearance is essential
- Familiarity with ISM and PSPF
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- Proactive in your approach to work
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise networking roles, with a heavy focus on Cisco technologies
- Deep experience with Cisco hardware, design, configuration, day 0,1,2+ operations
- Expertise in design of complex secure networking environments, with adherence to compliance of government network security.
- Expertise in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), subnetting, and network design principles.
- Strong understanding of the full OSI model and correct implementation at each level
- Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools and SDN (Software-Defined Networking) concepts
- Extensive experience in monitoring, DR planning, recovery operations of the network.
- Solid grounding in network security, segmentation, and zero-trust networking models
- Expert experience supporting high-performance or data centre-grade networking environments.
- Knowledge of Linux networking, hybrid cloud environments, and container networking (e.g., CNI plugins in Kubernetes) is a strong advantage.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with excellent documentation habits.
- Cisco certification (e.g. CCNP or CCIE) is highly regarded, proven and demonstrable track
- record preferred.
- Experience in Palo Alto firewalls, Fortinet Firewalls and Nokia routing platforms.
- Nvidia Cumulus experience would be a huge plus
