Your new role

  • Full-time ongoing located at either Deakin, ACT or Wagga Wagga, NSW
  • Annual Salary negotiable depending on qualifications and experience, plus Superannuation, NFP Salary Packaging, Paid Christmas closure and other generous leave provisions under our Enterprise Agreement.

This position is part of small HR team that works collaboratively across all areas of RACR in providing effective and timely HR and WHS support to the organisation.  Coordinating generalist administrative activities for all HR functions, the HR Officer has a strong WHS (psychosocial) focus and supports a healthy workplace environment.

Duties:

Under the supervision of the HR Manager, HR Officer is responsible for:

  • Undertake general administrative duties such as interpretation and application of RACR Enterprise Agreement, preparing correspondence, making bookings, maintaining spreadsheets, organizing and maintaining files, preparing basic reports etc. related to key HR functions, WHS, training and development, and health and wellbeing
  • Develop, maintain and update WHS Framework as required, in line with current legislation and standards.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of the WHS Framework in line with current legislation and best practice.
  • Provide specialist and technical advice to managers and staff on WHS matters, including relevant legislation and risk management processes, to assist in ensuring understanding and compliance with WHS obligation
  • Assist the HR Manager with Workers Compensation claims ensuring clear communication with the insurer, injured employee and other parties including rehabilitation providers, occupational therapists.

What you'll need to succeed

  1. Minimum Diploma in Human Resources, Work Health and Safety, or a related field (or actively working towards qualification) – Classified as Band C. Minimum tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Work Health and Safety, or a related field, with at least five years of demonstrated professional experience – Classified as Band D
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of legislation and regulations related to Workplace Health and Safety and associated Australian Standards and Codes of Practice
  3. Commitment to the values of a community service organisation and excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate sensitively and respectfully with a variety of stakeholders.
  4. Demonstrated relevant experience in a similar role and ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure with excellent organisational and prioritising skills.
  5. Understanding of Confidentiality and Privacy issues.
