Expressions of interest are sought for the part-time position of
Chairperson of AgriFutures Australia
(AgriFutures) for a
three-year
term commencing on 11 January 2026.

AgriFutures is a statutory research and development corporation (RDC) established by the
Primary Industries Research and Development Act 1989.

AgriFutures invests in research, development and extension (RD&E) to strengthen Australian rural industries and regional communities. It is funded by levies collected from 13 industries and matching Commonwealth funding for eligible RD&E. AgriFutures also receives Commonwealth funding to invest in RD&E that is of benefit to the whole of Australian agriculture.

Applicants should demonstrate highly developed experience and capability in:

  • leadership
  • setting strategic business direction
  • business acumen
  • communication and consultation skills
  • board experience
  • appreciation of governance practices
  • understanding of government
  • knowledge and/or experience in Australia's rural industries.

Note:
A person who is a member of the executive of the corporation's representative organisation must not be appointed. If nominated, you must resign from your position at the representative organisation before appointment is possible.

Current remuneration is $69,080 per year (as determined by the Australian Government Remuneration Tribunal). The Chairperson is a statutory office. It is important that you understand the responsibilities and liabilities as a director holding public office.
