What you'll do:

WSP Australia's Mine Advisory group is expanding, and we're looking for a highly experienced Principal Mining Engineer to join our team. This is an opportunity to work with top-tier mining clients, contribute to complex projects across commodities, and play a key role in helping our clients maximise value, optimise operations, and deliver sustainable outcomes.

  • Mine design for open pit and/or underground mines, scheduling, optimisation, equipment selection and operating and capital cost estimates.
  • Overseeing all aspects of the project lifecycle (proposal, contract, scope of work, technical quality and senior review) and consulting with appropriate peers.
  • Delivering technically appropriate and cost-effective solutions to clients which meet time, budget, quality and safety requirements.
  • Carry out technical work in support of due diligence reviews supporting mergers, acquisitions under the supervision of other senior and principal engineers.
  • Manage the preparation of tenders, proposals and reports for clients.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
  • 15+ years experience in mining engineering across studies, operations, and/or consulting.
  • Proven capability in mine design, scheduling, optimisation, and technical review.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience working directly with clients on advisory and technical assignments.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to turn insights into clear, meaningful recommendations.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams.
