Are you a meticulous, forward-thinking professional with a passion for numbers and project success? Join the City of Gold Coast's Infrastructure team and play a vital role in delivering value across the entire project lifecycle As an Estimator, you'll be at the heart of each project, ensuring accurate and realistic cost estimates that directly influence project decisions, timelines, and financial outcomes.
Responsibilities Include:
• From project inception to closure, your expertise in preparing cost estimates will help guide the direction and success of each project. Your insights will directly influence key decisions that shape the future of our projects.
• Work closely with contractors, architects, engineers, and suppliers to gather up-to-date pricing data, assess cost estimates, and ensure our projects are financially sound and aligned with market conditions.
• Continuously analyse and reconcile project costs, identifying variances and implementing cost-saving measures that drive greater efficiency.
• Play a pivotal role in reviewing and refining processes, policies, and best practices that ensure we remain at the forefront of quantity surveying and cost management. Your input will directly enhance our cost assurance functions and overall project quality.
• While working independently, you'll also have the opportunity to guide and support junior staff, helping them grow and excel in their roles.
We're looking for people who have:
• Qualification in Engineering, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 3 years' experience working in an estimating/ quantity surveying role.
• Knowledge of various building trades, civil trades, and specialist trades to effectively measure and price all works associated with municipal infrastructure.
• Knowledge of estimating programs such as Cubit, Experts, and/or CostX .
• Experience in Microsoft Office Applications.
• Ability to multitask, work under pressure and effectively prioritise based on ever changing business needs.
• Organisational, time management and prioritising skills.
• Good communication skills, both verbally & written.
