Better Health Network (BHN) is seeking a dedicated
Aboriginal Health Worker
to support our Indigenous Access Program reporting to Program Lead Indigenous Access, working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to improve health, wellbeing, and cultural connection.

This role focuses on delivering culturally safe services, promoting healthy lifestyles, and strengthening relationships with community, Elders, and key stakeholders. You'll also play a key role in supporting access to programs such as the Wominjeka BBQ and Our Rainbow Place, and in advocating for culturally inclusive health practices across BHN.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Build positive relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and service providers.
  • Deliver and promote health education programs and culturally safe services.
  • Support individuals and families to access appropriate health and wellbeing services.
  • Provide input into the design and delivery of culturally relevant programs and initiatives.
  • Support implementation of BHN's Reconciliation Action Plan and engage in local networks.
  • Advocate for community needs and contribute to service improvements that enhance access and equity.

  • Lived experience as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, with strong connections to community.
  • Understanding of the health and social challenges affecting Indigenous communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and engage respectfully with diverse individuals and organisations.
