We are seeking proactive and collaborative Library Student Experience Casuals to join our team. This role is a great opportunity to help shape and deliver a range of events and activations throughout the year that welcome new students and foster a strong sense of belonging. You will support the team with all aspects of event delivery, from setup and pack down to administration, while working proactively to ensure a positive student experience.

Key responsibilities will include: 

Event Support and Facilitation

• Assist with the end-to-end delivery of student events and activations. This includes setting up and packing down, running various activities like library tours and information booths, and serving as a welcoming first point of contact for students.

Operational and Administrative Assistance

• Support the team with event preparation and a range of administrative tasks. You will work proactively and follow established procedures to ensure events run smoothly and enhance the student experience.

Data Collection & Reporting

• Conduct comprehensive data collection for events, including managing registrations and headcounts. You will also provide feedback and insights to the Library Student Experience Coordinator to help inform future events.

Student Engagement

• Respond to basic student inquiries by providing directional assistance and information on library services. You will also maintain effective communication with the team, attend training sessions, and respect student privacy.

Essential

• Currently enrolled UQ undergraduate or postgraduate student with at least one year of study remaining. You should be committed to the designated working hours and peak periods, including being comfortable working outdoors and performing light physical tasks like moving equipment.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and can confidently engage with a diverse range of students. You are also able to effectively communicate with team members and deliver public speaking to large groups.

• You are a responsible, proactive, and reliable team member who enjoys working collaboratively in a dynamic, creative, and inclusive team environment that champions diversity.

• Passionate about enhancing the student experience and strengthening the connection between students and the UQ Library.

Desirable

• An awareness of common student issues and challenges, such as transitioning to university life or adapting to academic expectations, with particular sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.

• Previous experience as a student leader, peer mentor, ambassador, or student volunteer at UQ will be highly regarded.

You must maintain work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment, and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
