About the Role:

We're hiring a Data Architect to join our team. The Data Architect is a highly strategic and technical role responsible for defining the organization's enterprise data architecture and strategy. You will translate complex business requirements into robust, scalable, and secure data solutions, ensuring the efficient storage, flow, and governance of data across the entire organization.

Please note: Expression of Interest (EOI): This role has a planned start date of February 2026.

Requirements

What does a day in the life look like?

Architecture & Design

  • Design & Modelling: Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for databases, data warehouses, and data lakes.

  • Strategy: Define and execute the roadmap for the future state of the enterprise data platform, aligning with business objectives and growth.

  • Technology Selection: Evaluate, recommend, and implement the appropriate data technologies, cloud services (e.g., AWS,GCP), and storage solutions.

  • Integration: Design solutions for data ingestion, transformation (ETL/ELT), and integration across disparate source systems.

Governance & Quality

  • Governance: Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices for data quality, lineage, and metadata management.

  • Security & Compliance: Design security and privacy controls to ensure data protection and adherence to regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR).

  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of the data architecture, data flows, and technical standards.

Collaboration & Optimization

  • Technical Guidance: Provide expert guidance and technical oversight to Data Engineers, BI Developers, and application development teams.

  • Optimization: Monitor system performance and continuously optimize data structures, queries, and infrastructure for scalability and efficiency.

  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with business leaders, product managers, and non-technical stakeholders to understand and refine data requirements.

  • Strategic & Collaborative: Takes ownership of the architectural roadmap, proactively learns and adapts, and effectively communicates across both technical and business teams.

About You

Essential experience & skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience in a role.
  • Data Modelling: Deep expertise in various data modeling techniques (Relational, Dimensional, NoSQL, graph databases).
  • SQL Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in SQL and optimizing complex queries.
  • Data Platforms: Hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions using modern data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Google BigQuery)
  • Cloud: Proven experience architecting data solutions on at least one major cloud platform (AWS and GCP).
  • Big Data/Programming: Proficiency with distributed data processing technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Kafka) and a programming language like Python

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Data Mesh or Data Fabric architectural patterns.

  • Familiarity with data virtualization and API design for data access.

  • Relevant certifications
