So, what does a typical day look like?
As a Catering Attendant, you're an integral member of our team, working across a range of areas to prepare all elements required to deliver a memorable dining experience for passengers onboard our airline customers flights. To do this, you perform a variety of roles across our kitchen, specifically in our Production area.
In a Nutshell, Your Main Responsibilities Are
- Food handling and light meal prep, plating meals, and meal tray set, ensuring presentation specifications are met using our visual guides.
- Assisting Chefs with bulk ingredients and bulk cooking of various menus
- Packaging meals in portion controlled sizes, and preparing to load into ovens and carts for delivery or in refrigerated holding areas.
- Ensuring a clean work bench and keeping your area neat and tidy at all times.
- Wearing proper PPE gear including apron, hairnets, gloves and facial masks.
- Stocking airline carts with dry store items including equipment (cutlery, crockery glassware), packaged snacks, and beverages.
- Compliance with Food Safety and HACCP guidelines, and adherence to hygiene standards and cleaning schedules.
- Communicate and coordinate with team members to ensure delivery timelines.
- Removing all perishable items from the kiosk and counted, ensuring products are in date and within temperature range
- Replenishment and recording of top up stock items and final dispatch
- Ensure all paperwork and data entry is completed in accordance with our customers.
- Ensure all catering equipment is clean and presentable ready for dispatch
- Gather information from airline systems to enable the completion of daily tasks
- Ability to work as instructed following both verbal and written work instructions
- Apply safe manual handling techniques
- Perform such tasks in accordance with Company or Airline specifications, to comply with hygiene, quality, safety, performance and customer service standards
- Ensure adherence to Galley Loading Plan (GLP), Cart Packing Plan (CPP) and Equipment Loading Plan (ELP) as applicable to the role
What do you need to be successful in securing this role?
- Sound numerical skills, can count accurately
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, as well as move and lift items.
- Ability to work shift work across a 7-day rotating roster.
- Neat and tidy presentation (uniformed).
- Sound knowledge of Food Hygiene and HACCP (desired but not essential).
- Basic knife skills (desired but not essential).
- As you will be working in the Aviation Services industry, you will be required to obtain a clear National Police Check.
- Availability to work 38 hours/week, as this role is a full-time permanent position.
