About the role

St Michaels Collegiate School is seeking a dedicated Residential School Boarding Supervisor to join our team in Hobart, Tasmania.

Commencing immediately, this is a part-time, live-in position of approximately 20 hours per week with on-site accommodation, utilities and meals provided as part of the remuneration package.

Working under the direct supervision of the Head of Boarding, the position involves the care and supervision of students residing in the Boarding House outside of school hours and the school holiday program as rostered.

What you'll be doing

  • Supervising and monitoring students in the boarding house, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times

  • Organising and facilitating engaging social, recreational and extracurricular activities for boarding students

  • Providing emotional support and guidance to students, and addressing any pastoral care concerns

  • Maintaining clear communication with parents/guardians, teaching staff and other stakeholders

  • Assisting with the daily operations of the boarding house, including meal times, study periods and bedtime routines

  • Ensuring the boarding house environment is clean, well-maintained and compliant with all relevant policies and regulations

What we're looking for

  • Relevant experience in a student services, pastoral care or residential supervision role

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with young people

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask effectively

  • A caring and empathetic approach, with a genuine interest in supporting the wellbeing of young people

  • Relevant qualifications in education, youth work, social work or a related field would be highly regarded

  • A current Working with Vulnerable People/Children check and first aid certification
