About the role
Our client is a leading Australian producer and importer of ethanol products.
As well as supplying ethanol (ethyl alcohol) to the growing fuel market in Australia, they supply a significant market share to various industries including the pharmaceutical, printing, cleaning, winery, aerosol, animal health and food and beverage industries. This bioethanol is a renewable product derived from molasses which is produced in the manufacturing of sugar. They supply and trade in a range of industrial solvents and chemicals, and refrigeration brine to multiple sectors.
The purpose of this position is to support the manufacture and distribution of Ethanol and Solvents products by performing all Laboratory and QC work in a safe, environmentally friendly manner.
The Quality Analyst is required to ensure that laboratory testing is performed in an accurate, timely and cost effective manner that does not impact on delivery to customer. The Laboratory Analyst performs routine procedures based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), product compliance to specifications, sampling schedules are adhered to and required interpretation of results within clearly defined guidelines.
This role will also provide support as required to the Quality Supervisor and Senior Quality Chemist.
What you'll be doing
- Perform daily laboratory operations to ensure all quality testing is completed in a timely manner and there is no compromise to product quality.
- Ensure all products are checked, tested and sold in accordance with the requirements of current selling specifications and agreed customer special requirements.
- Assist with brine analysis.
- Perform quality inspections in a timely manner (including tankers, ships, lines, vats).
- Perform analysis of bulk finished product storage tanks/vats, misc. samples & Brine.
- Maintain, calibrate and conduct verification checks on laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Maintain records of all lab calibration compliance and documentation.
- Prepare road tanker cleaning certificates as required.
- Attend ship discharge and liaise with Terminal and surveyors prior to and during discharge regarding quality requirements.
- Ensure timely analysis of material in storage to ensure no delays in product release
- Maintenance of lab equipment in good, clean and reliable working order.
- Order and maintain basic lab supplies (gas, glassware, reagents etc…).
- Organising service on all laboratory equipment.
- Maintenance of sample log and retention register.
- Preparation of frequently used lab reagents.
- Prepare samples for customer assessment.
- Report any non-conformance of product results to Quality Supervisor.
What we're looking for
- Cert III in Laboratory or higher
- 2-4 years experience as a QC laboratory
- Desirable but not essential - previous experience in operating and maintaining GC, HPLC, ICP & UV-VIS instruments
- Commitment to safety and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards
