About the role
Viterra is seeking a motivated Health & Safety Advisor to provide leadership and support to our Southern Region, covering key sites at Port Adelaide (Outer Harbour and Inner Harbour), Roseworthy, Tailem Bend and the Loxton Group of sites. The primary responsibility of the role is to assist the business in the implementation and ongoing compliance with Health and Safety policies and standards. You will work closely with local management and employees to increase safety awareness and participate in scheduled and ad hoc safety activities including audits, investigations, training and projects.
This is a regionally based role that requires regular travel across multiple sites. You can expect to be away from home for an average of two - three nights per week, with some weekend and afterhours work required to effectively support operational teams and maintain a visible safety presence in the field.
Duties
- Champion a culture where health and safety is central to all business activities
- Provide expert advice on hazard and risk management in line with policies and standards
- Support a zero-harm workplace through leadership, coaching, and engagement
- Promote and model safe behaviours, ensuring the safety of employees, contractors, and customers
- Lead incident investigations, audits, and inspections; identify improvements and corrective actions
- Deliver training and guidance to leaders and staff on health and safety practices
- Participate in operational meetings, regional projects, and safety initiatives to support continuous improvement
- Contribute to achieving targets in the annual Health and Safety Improvement Plan
- Perform other duties as required
About You
- Formal safety qualifications (minimum Certificate IV WHS)
- At least 5 years' experience in a safety role (within a self-insured environment desirable)
- An effective communicator
- Internal audit and training qualifications are desirable
- Sound computer skills are desirable
- Is effective at multi-tasking, though proactive initiation of tasks/projects and consistently manages them through to completion
- Knowledge of SA WHS Act, Regulations and Codes of Practice.
