The Role
Lead transformational initiatives in Health, Safety, and Wellbeing (HSW) with an emphasis on high-risk activities and mental health, aimed at minimising and preventing workplace injuries and illnesses. Key responsibilities include supporting the correct use of risk and incident management processes, conducting assurance activities, supporting change management, and overseeing the execution of HSW projects to enhance overall HSW outcomes.
Support the implementation, and continuous improvement of the organisation's HSW management system and operational procedures to ensure risk management, performance improvement and compliance to legal and business requirements.
- Oversee risk and incident management processes to identify hazards and ensure timely mitigation.
- Facilitate risk assessments, incident investigations and performance reviews.
- Conduct assurance activities to monitor compliance and effectiveness of HSW programs.
- In collaboration with the Manager, oversee the monitoring, analysis and reporting of HSW performance, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement in line with business goals and industry benchmarks
- Support ISO 45001 certification audits.

What we're looking for
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health, Safety, and Wellbeing (HSW) professional who is passionate about driving meaningful change in workplace safety and mental health. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing high-risk environments and a proven track record in risk and incident management. You should be skilled at leading change initiatives, ensuring compliance through assurance activities, and delivering impactful HSW projects.
- Tertiary qualifications in HSW, occupational hygiene, chemistry, project management or related fields or demonstrated equivalent experience
- Significant experience in high-risk environments such as utilities, mining, energy, construction, aviation, (including contractor relationships) to ensure the appropriate identification, management and mitigation of HSW risks.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience within a similar role.
- Experience supporting the use and improvement of H&S management systems and associated tools.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into all activities.

The Details
This role can be based in either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport and attracts a salary of $131,265 - $145,850 (inclusive of superannuation), negotiable dependent on experience.
