UGL's Fuels and Energy East business is seeking a motivated
Mechanical/Piping Engineer
to provide safe, reliable and efficient technical expertise to our Maintenance and Projects Teams as well as coordinating engineering support for our client's
terminal and refining operations
.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to brownfield and greenfield projects in the fuels and energy sector, working alongside industry leaders and technical experts.

About The Role

  • As a Mechanical/Piping Engineer, you will:
  • Contribute to mechanical and piping engineering design activities across various contracts to ensure we have a viable solution for our clients
  • Provide technical expertise to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient project delivery.
  • Support tendering, design, procurement, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian and international standards, client specifications, and UGL policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engineering designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications on time and within budget.
  • Apply deep knowledge of mechanical systems including pumps, valves, firewater systems, and piping components.
  • Conduct technical reviews, vendor data assessments, and support FAT and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure safety is embedded in all aspects of project execution.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Chartered/RPEQ preferred or working towards).
  • 5+ years of detailed engineering experience in oil & gas, fuel terminals, or petrochemical industries.
  • Strong understanding of hazardous area design and instrumentation systems.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Australian Citizenship (required for Commonwealth project work).
