Wayside Chapel is on the lookout for an inspiring and experienced Community Services Manager to lead our frontline team at Kings Cross. You'll be at the heart of our mission, guiding a dedicated group of Care Coordinators and Community Services Workers to deliver inclusive, trauma-informed support that meets people where they're at.

About the role
Working closely with peer Managers, you'll lead the daily operations of a diverse team, making sure services run smoothly and compassionately across our program spaces. Whether it's responding to a crisis, mentoring a team member, or coordinating with other service partners, you'll bring clarity and consistency to a complex and rewarding role.
The role is full-time, Monday – Friday 1:30PM – 9:30PM in Kings Cross, supporting daytime and after-hours programs.
Key duties
- Lead a diverse team to deliver responsive, person-centred support
- Allocate workloads and manage service flow across intake, care coordination and outreach
- Supervise and support staff through regular check-ins, coaching and debriefing
- Drive continuous improvement in service quality and visitor experience
- Foster a safe, inclusive and psychologically healthy workplace culture
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to improve outcomes for our community
- Monitor incidents, manage risk, and maintain clear, up-to-date reporting and care plans
- Ensure services operate within budget and according to Wayside's values and policies
About you
You're a confident, compassionate leader with a background in social work, mental health, homelessness or related fields. You bring structure to complexity, know how to support a team under pressure, and thrive in environments where no two days are the same.
You'll also bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in social work or a related field
- At least 5 years' experience leading frontline service delivery in a complex environment
- Experience in direct care, care coordination and trauma-informed practice
- A commitment to social justice and inclusive service delivery
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust across teams and with visitors
- Experience supervising staff and promoting professional growth and wellbeing
- An eye for systems and continuous improvement
