Job Description

As the Senior Pastor of Canberra R3 Woori Church, you will provide visionary spiritual leadership, biblical teaching, and pastoral care to guide our congregation in their faith journey. This role involves preaching and teaching, offering counselling and pastoral support, and fostering a Christ-centred community through worship, discipleship, and outreach.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Spiritual Leadership: Preach biblically grounded and relevant sermons; lead prayer and worship services; provide pastoral counselling and guidance.
  • Pastoral Training & Education: Continue theological and pastoral development through formal study and denominational training.
  • Community Engagement: Strengthen ties with the Canberra community through outreach, events, and partnerships.
  • Church Ministry Involvement: Actively lead and support ministries such as youth, campus, and worship; build and mentor ministry teams.
  • Pastoral Mentorship: Work alongside experienced pastors for coaching and leadership growth.
  • Global and Long-Term Ministry: Participate in mission trips, theological education, and leadership training to extend the church's global reach.
  • Korean Language & Cultural Understanding: Provide sermons, counselling, and pastoral care fluently in Korean, with the ability to minister in English as needed. Demonstrate a deep understanding of both Korean culture and the unique experiences of the Korean immigrant community in Australia.

Key Selection Criteria (Requirements)

  • Faith and Calling: A strong personal faith in Jesus Christ and a clear pastoral calling
  • Education: Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent theological qualification
  • Pastoral Experience: Proven ministry experience as a senior or associate pastor
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in Korean (preaching, counselling, pastoral care); ability to communicate in English desirable
  • Cultural Understanding: Deep appreciation of Korean culture and the unique experiences of Korean immigrants in Australia
  • Leadership and Teamwork: Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers
  • Communication Skills: Strong preaching, pastoral care, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Vision and Mission: Commitment to gospel-centred mission, outreach, and building the next generation

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term, Contract

Contract length: 12-60 months

Pay: $75,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
