Health & Safety Superintendent

Rolleston Open Cut is a 16Mtpa thermal coal mine located in the southern Bowen Basin in Central Queensland.  With a long life of mine and low operating costs, the mine has a bright outlook.  Since 2005, we have grown to become one of the largest surface mines in Australia, whilst continuing to foster a culture underpinned by safety, achievement, flexibility and teamwork to improve the skills of each and every person on the mine site every day.  We are a hands-on team who all work together to meet our objectives.  No job or day is the same with us, and we never miss an opportunity to share, learn and improve.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Health & Safety Superintendent to join our dynamic and successful team.  As a valued member of the Health and Safety team and reporting directly to the Health Safety and Training Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Assist with the development and implementation of Health, Safety and Training Annual Plan and Systems to comply with legal & company requirements.

• Provide on the ground support for Health and Safety projects and initiatives driven by Glencore HST teams.

• Monitor compliance with relevant legal & corporate requirements within area of responsibility;

• Demonstrate a highly visible on-site presence and commitment to implementation of HST policies, strategy, standards, systems, processes and interactions.

• Maintain and continually improve systems that demonstrate regular safety audits are conducted in all operational areas of the mine.

• Develop and implement Emergency Response and Crisis Management Plans for the mine site in conjunction with Glencore protocol.

• Provide oversight of the health and injury management processes.

About you 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A tertiary qualification in Safety, Occupational Hygiene or other related discipline.

• Minimum 5 years' experience in Mining, Construction or other Heavy Industry.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills.

• Ability to liase and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.

• Attention to Detail.

• Lead a large high performing team; and

• Exhibit a positive attitude.
