Senior Test Analyst – Active NV1 Clearance (Canberra | 12 Months+12 months)

We are seeking an experienced
Test Lead / Senior QA Specialist
to join the Cloud Applications Section (CKS) within DFAT. The successful candidate will plan, lead, and deliver testing activities across all stages of product, systems, and service development. This role involves providing authoritative advice on test strategy, adopting appropriate automation methods and tools, ensuring quality standards, and driving continuous improvement in testing practices.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan, drive, and oversee testing activities across multiple iterations and projects.
  • Provide authoritative advice and guidance on test planning, execution, and assurance.
  • Adopt and adapt appropriate testing methods, tools, and automation techniques.
  • Measure and monitor compliance with testing standards and practices.
  • Assess risks, take preventative actions, and ensure issues are managed effectively.
  • Identify improvements and contribute to the development of policies, standards, and testing guidelines.
  • Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, developers, and testers to ensure high-quality delivery.

Skills & experience required

  • Active NV1 security clearance (essential).
  • ISTQB Foundation (or higher) certification (mandatory).
  • Minimum 8+ years' experience in software testing and quality assurance.
  • Experience testing
    COTS and bespoke applications.
  • Hands-on experience with
    Azure DevOps
    for test planning, execution, and defect management.
  • Experience testing
    REST services, SOAP web services, and web applications.
  • Proven ability to deliver QA functions in a cost-effective, efficient manner.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Highly desirable

  • Experience testing
    cloud-hosted applications
    , CI/CD pipelines, and on-premise systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft cloud solutions and enterprise application environments.
