Your impact
We are seeking an experienced
Senior Design Technician / BIM Lead
to join our Water Infrastructure team. This hands-on role combines digital delivery expertise with team leadership across ANZ water infrastructure projects. You'll be working on significant projects that benefit your local community while developing your leadership capabilities.
Your role will primarily involve leading digital delivery projects and design work, including developing BIM models and engineering drawings, liaising with design teams, understanding project schedules, and ensuring QA review processes. The remaining part of your role focuses on people leadership, developing team members' skills and resourcing projects with the right people.
You will provide technical input within the design team, undertake reviews of deliverables, and ensure compliance with design quality systems and client standards. Supporting Project Managers, you'll help manage operational risk, HSE, and quality outcomes by identifying potential issues early and providing accurate progress updates. You'll also foster cross-geography relationships to maximise the benefits of our global delivery capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to set up projects and work with engineers to manage and deliver multi-disciplinary projects
- Knowledge of Australian standards and client standards
- Proven understanding of a DEXP and ability to contribute to LOD discussions. Proficient in the use of Autodesk Construction Cloud, Projectwise, Revizto and Navisworks
- Proven leadership of medium to large water infrastructure and multi-disciplinary projects
- Consultancy experience with excellent communication skills
- Commitment to being a team player, with great communication skills who can work flexibly
Here's what you'll need
- 12+ years of experience in water treatment and conveyance systems, 3D modelling, drafting, design and delivery
- Advanced experience with 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Plant 3D, or similar modeling tools)
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to coordinate with others and manage multiple tasks at the same time
- Problem-solving skills to finds ways to overcome challenges
- Strong team ethic to work collaboratively across functional groups
We're looking for someone who can challenge provided information, assess feasibility of requirements, and lead multi-disciplinary projects with minimal supervision.
